Cycling in the Algarve

Currently, the routes are organized in two ways, namely by the level of difficulty and by zones (east, central, and west).
The western area includes the municipalities of Portimão, Monchique, Lagos, Vila do Bispo and Aljezur, where you can find 12 routes of different levels, and that together add up to more than 850km of distance, encountering idyllic places where you can enjoy the sea waters or unique mountain landscapes.

If you are looking for a more demanding course, there are also the options of a hilly and uphill course.

In Faro, there are two courses, the level 3 contemplates 123 km of distance and starts in the historical center of the area going up to the top of the São Miguel hill. Level 4, on the other hand, covers a distance of 175 km, with routes along the Ria and the mountain roads.

Portimão also has routes with two types of levels. The first is 135 km long and starts on flat terrain and goes up to the Espinhaço de Cão mountain range, with 7 km of gentle, progressive ascent. The level 4 course is 160 km long and goes crosses Silves, Monchique, and Casais.

There are a total of five uphill courses in the west of the district, namely: Padescas, Fóia, Pomba, Picota, and Portela da Nave.
